Bhubaneswar: Schools, colleges and universities have begun to reopen amid the coronavirus scare.
Universities and colleges in Haryana were reopened on a trial basis on Saturday. Several other states like Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, J&K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh have reopened schools partially a week ago. Seeing this, private schools too may open soon in the upcoming weeks.
Schools in Bihar are also set to resume on September 28. Students of classes IX to XII, who aren’t from the containment zones, can visit schools if they need guidance from the teachers.
In Tripura, all the government and its aided schools would be reopened on October 5. “We have decided to reopen schools from October 05. Students of Class 9 to 12 can come to schools to consult with teachers about their subject-related queries, but they need to get written consent of their parents first,” said Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, as per Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, the government is likely to allow classes X, XI, and XII students to visit schools on a voluntary basis for taking guidance from teachers from October 1.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Lucknow Unaided Private Schools’ Association (UPSA), had requested the deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma to allow schools to reopen for senior sections (class IX-XII) in the state from October 12.
“We have requested that classes 10 and 12 be called for project work, practical, assignments and maybe mid-term examinations. Then after seeing the response, class 11 and then class 9 be called. It was decided that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be adhered to as per the government Instructions,” Anil Agarwal, UPSA president, said on Friday.
However, the scene in West Bengal is quite different. The schools may not reopen before Durga Puja.
Similarly, the AAP-led Delhi government too postponed the reopening of schools to October 5.
