Nayagarh: Khandapada SDPO Madan Mohan Pradhan has been transferred to the district police headquarters in Odisha’s Nayagarh to facilitate an impartial probe into allegations of inappropriate conduct following a complaint lodged by a woman.
According to sources, the complainant approached the SDPO regarding a dispute between two families registered on July 3, 2025. Pradhan allegedly obtained her contact number and started sending obscene WhatsApp messages. He then pressurised her to meet him at hotels and parks, while seeking sexual favours to settle the matter. An audio of the same had also gone viral.
The woman further claimed that the officer threatened to implicate her husband in false cases if she did not comply and allegedly demanded bribes while favouring the opposing party in the dispute.
Sources further stated that while a case has been registered against the officer at Fatehgarh police station under multiple sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to obscene gestures, stalking, misconduct, and criminal intent, Nayagarh SP has initiated a departmental inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, the woman has approached the Odisha State Commission for Women, seeking immediate arrest of the SDPO, while claiming that her life was under threat.
