Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch seized 4.026 kg of brown sugar from Jaleswar area in Balasore district on Wednesday night.
This is the second biggest brown sugar seizure for the law enforcement agency, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said at a press meet on Thursday.
He said that the STF personnel during a raid in Jamalpur village under Jaleswar police limits near the Odisha-West Bengal border on Wednesday night seized the contraband and arrested two drug peddlers.
“In 2020, STF has seized record 20.73 kg brown sugar which is more than combined seizure of all agencies of Odisha Police in the last eight years,” he added.
Notably, the Crime Branch STF had seized nearly 4.5 kg of brown sugar from Rasulgarh area in Bhubaneswar on June 19 this year and arrested three peddlers Debasish Behera, SK Kausar Ali and Prabir Kumar Singh hailing from Balasore district.
