Bhubaneswar: Special attention will be given to the security of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan as a regional outfit, Kalinga Sena has issued threats to throw ink on him.
Commissionerate Police said on Saturday that security will be beefed up for the super star. “We will take adequate security measures for Shah Rukh Khan’s visit during the Hockey World Cup. However, the actor’s schedule is yet to be finalised,” said DCP Bhubaneswar, Anup Sahu.
The group is apparently upset with Shah Rukh for having distorted history in his 2001 film ‘Asoka’. They have also said that they will show him black flags on his arrival during the inauguration of the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup beginning on November 27 at Kalinga Stadium.
Chief of the outfit, Hemant Rath, said he wants an apology from Shah Rukh for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Odia people by changing historical facts in ‘Asoka’. They alleged that the film dishonoured Odisha’s culture by portraying the Kalinga War in a wrong manner.
Bollywood singer and music director A. R. Rahman will also perform along with Shah Rukh Khan at the inaugural ceremony. Besides, Madhuri Dixit Nene will display a stunning theatrical performance with several other artistes depicting the ‘Oneness of the World’.
The mega event begins on November 28 and will conclude on December 16. Teams from several countries have already arrived in Bhubaneswar.
