Security Forces Bust Maoist Camp, Seize Explosive Materials In Odisha’s Boudh
Boudh: A Maoist camp was busted ant a huge quantity of explosive materials and ammunition seized by security forces following an exchange of fire with a group of naxals inside a forest in Odisha’s Boudh district.
The seizure was made during a joint combing operation launched by personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) in the Budhakhol forest of the district, sources said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of ultras, the combing team launched a search operation in the forest. On seeing the force movement, the Maoists opened fire and the security personnel fired back in self- defence. Following a brief gunbattle, the Maoists fled the site.
During search of the area, a huge cache of improvised explosive devices (IED), landmines, electric wires, and other explosives were seized from the spot. Some batteries, Maoist uniforms and literature, medicines, and other items were also recovered from the camp.
The security forces stepped up combing operation in the area following the encounter and efforts are on to track the fleeing Maoists, sources assed.
