Security Guard Foils Attempt To Loot Bank Cash Van In Odisha’s Keonjhar
Keonjhar: A daring daylight attempt to loot Rs 38 lakh from a van carrying cash from a bank was foiled due to extraordinary bravery shown by security guard in Joda area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
As per sources, the cash van, carrying Rs 38 lakh from Bank of India and IndusInd Bank, was proceeding to replenish ATM when three masked miscreants on a numberless bike intercepted the vehicle on a service road near a flyover on Tuesday afternoon.
The robbers, armed with pistol, iron rods, and knives, attacked the security guard in the vehicls. The guard, identified as Balaram Prusty, who fought back, disarming one of the attackers and retrieving the stolen pistol. The miscreants fled the scene, leaving behind their bike.
Balaram, who sustained grievous injuries in the scuffle, was rushed to a hospital in Joda.
According to an eyewitness, the armed miscreants attacked Balaram, who single-handedly fought with them valiantly and forced the robbers to flee.
On being informed, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) PR Chhotray visited the site and said involvement of a large and organised gang is suspected in the incident. Investigation into the incident is underway.
