Mumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel have sought time till November 15 to appear before the Mumbai Police in connection with the FIR lodged against them, which includes sedition charges.
The duo was asked to be present at Bandra Police Station for interrogation by October 26-27.
“My clients Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel will not be going to the police station on October 26 & 27. I have responded to the summons and sought time after November 15,” advocate Rizwan Siddiqui told CNN News 18.
Taking cognizance of the complaint registered by Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer Munawwarali Sahil Sayyed, Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate JY Ghule had ordered an FIR to be filed against the sisters. Five days later, Bandra police directed them to appear for interrogation.
“Among the charges include Indian Penal Code Sec. 124-A (sedition)… spreading communal hatred and falsehoods. The police recorded the statement of complainant Munawwarali Sahil A Sayyed today in this connection,” Sayyed’s lawyer Ravish Zamindar told news agency IANS.
Kangana has been a vocal critic of Mumbai Police, even calling them ‘Pappu Sena’.
