Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist and Resident Editor (Bhubaneswar edition) of Business Standard Dilip Satpathy passed away here on Sunday. He was in his fifties.
A well-known mediaperson of Odisha, Satpathy was ailing for some time. His condition deteriorated late evening and was received dead at a private hospital here.
Educated at Secondary Board High School, Cuttack, and Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Satpathy started his career with leading Odia daily Sambad in the eighties. In the nineties, he joined Business Standard and became the Resident Editor of the newspaper’s Bhubaneswar edition.
He also won several awards and recognitions.
Satpathy had in-depth knowledge of business and economic issues and was a popular face on Odia news channels. He also taught journalism in several institutes and was well liked by his students.
He had survived cancer in the nineties and remained a bachelor.
Journalists, friends and well-wishers were shocked to learn of his untimely demise and paid rich tributes to him.
