Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Monday mourned the death of senior journalist Ashutosh Mishra, who passed away in Bhubaneswar the previous night.
“His demise is an irreplaceable loss to the world of journalism in Odisha. While conveying condolences to the bereaved family members, I pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the peaceful departure of the departed soul,” the CM posted on X.
Mishra was a Bhubaneswar-based journalist with more than three decades of experience in the field. He started his career with the Times of India and later worked for a number of reputed publications, including Sunday Mail,
the Pioneer, Mail Today, Down to Earth and the Telegraph. He reported extensively on Odisha politics.
In his condolence message, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik praised his sharp political insights and commitment to factual journalism. “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Odisha’s senior journalist Ashutosh Mishra. His contributions throughout his long career in journalism will always remain memorable. Along with praying for the eternal peace of his immortal soul, I convey my condolences to his bereaved family.”
Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das also expressed grief over his death. “A prolific writer, he worked for prestigious newspapers such as The Pioneer and The Telegraph apart from contributing to many other publications. His commitment to truthful and impactful journalism will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family,” she wrote.
