Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer and Development Commissioner Pradeep Jena on Wednesday left for two western Odisha districts to review the COVID-19 situation.
According to the schedule, Jena will arrive in Jharsuguda district and later visit Sundargarh district.
Taking note of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the border districts of Western Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a review meeting on Tuesday had directed the Chief Secretary and the senior officials to tour these districts to ensure proper implementation of COVID-19 guidelines.
Night curfew has been imposed in 10 districts of Odisha, including Jhrsuguda and Sundargarh, to contain the spread of the virus. Eight of these districts accounted for 43 per cent of the daily caseload. They share borders with Chhattisgarh, which has turned into the epicentre of COVID resurgence.
