Bhadrak: Unidentified miscreants looted gold and silver jewellery and other valuables from four temples in Gardapara area Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
The miscreants broke open the locks of the temples and fled with valuable gold jewellery and other sacred items on Monday night, sources said.
The robbers committed theft at Mangala, Shiva, Radha-Krishna, and Hanuman temples in the area and decamped with the valuables. Some cash was also allegedly looted from the donation boxes at the temples, sources said.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when villagers saw the act and immediately informed the Purana Bazar police.
Locals said silver crown, necklace, earrings, anklet, bracelet were found missing from the Radha Krushna temple. Similarly, the donation box was missing at Hanuman temple, while silver crown of Goddess Mangala weighing more than 1 kg, was also taken away.
On being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.
