Malkangiri: The first serological survey began in Malkangiri district on Tuesday.
The three-day survey will be carried out by five teams comprising district health officials and experts from the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC). They will conduct sero tests on 1,500 people.
The survey is aimed at estimating the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in the community to assess the spread of the pandemic and detect the immune response of the people to the virus.
Notably, during the sero survey in the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area, it was found that 31 per cent of those surveyed were found to have developed antibodies.
