Elderly Come Forward To Take COVID Vaccine In Odisha Capital
Bhubaneswar: Senior citizens from different walks of life turned up for vaccination at the designated centres and waited for their turn patiently in Odisha Capital on Monday.
The first day of third phase vaccination programme that includes senior citizens and persons above 45 and below 59 with comorbidities received good response.
A total of 785 persons, including 36 comorbid persons, were administered vaccine in the 12 designated session sites in Bhubaneswar. The vaccination drive was held from 10 am to 5 pm.
Among the senior citizens who took the vaccine was Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who was administered COVAXIN around 11 am at Odisha Assembly Dispensary here.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro and Deputy Speaker Rajani Kant Singh took the jab at the Assembly Dispensary in the morning.
As per sources, 20 legislators of Odisha Assembly received the vaccine on the day.
The vaccination drive was carried out at 12 centers such as Capital Hospital, Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) at Pokhariput, Ghatikia, Saheed Nagar, IRC Village, Unit – IX, Urban Community Health Centre at Unit-IV, Patia, Dumduma, BMC Hospital, Police Hospital, AIIMS and 10 private hospitals in the city.
The vaccine was provided free of cost to beneficiaries at government hospitals and Rs 250 was charged at private medicals in the city as per the government decided norms. The Civic Body has deployed a four-member team which comprises two trained health workers at each center to ensure the vaccination process smooth and hassle-free.
