Bhubaneswar: The PhD scholar of IIT-Bhubaneswar, who had brought sexual harassment charges against her supervisor, a senior professor of the institute, lodged a formal complaint at Mahila police station here on Friday.
The woman, hailing from West Bengal, further alleged that her husband and another male student of the institute were mentally tortured by the same professor.
In July, she had sent a notice to IIT-Bhubaneswar director through her lawyer in this regard. She had also written to chief minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking their intervention in the matter.
The woman alleged that the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) formed by the institute to probe her allegation did not do it impartially.
After getting information about the incident, deputy secretary of Skill Development and Technical Education Department P K Sarangi had sought an immediate report from the director of the institute.
Reacting to the media reports, the institute had termed the allegations levelled by the student as ‘baseless’ and said all statutory requirement have been completed holistically.
