Kota: Shadab Hussain, a tailor’s son from here, has topped the Chartered Accountant (CA) final exam, scoring an impressive 74.63 per cent.
The results of the CA Final, Foundation, and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) exams, held in November-December last year, was declared by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Wednesday.
Shadab, who pursued his Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from Kota University, comes from a poor family. His father, who could study up to class 10, is a tailor. His mother is a school dropout.
“I studied day-and-night to earn a job so that my parents do not have to bother about their old age,” Hussain told Indian Express soon after the results were declared. “This is the biggest achievement in my family”, he added, radiating confidence.
He scored 597/800 and cleared the exam in his first attempt.
So what’s the mantra behind his success?
While he devoted 13-14 hours a day for self-study, the 23-year-old said that keeping the mind calm and analyzing what one has learned or studied is important to clear the CA exam.
He took a break of 30-40 minutes after every three to four hours of study, saying it is important for de-stressing.
CA exams is considered one of the toughest competitive tests to crack in the country, testing a student’s subject clarity and command over the fundamentals.
Hussain said that during the examination, he had gone through the question paper to identify 3-4 questions, which could help him score 40 marks, and answered them in an hour.
In the next two hours, he solved the remaining questions to score more marks, which helped him improve his total score. “It gave me an edge over others,” he said.
“I thought of Chartered Accountancy (CA) to be a niche profession where one can learn throughout their life. After due consideration and research I set my mind to become a CA,” Hussian said.
