Mumbai: This is Shah Rukh Khan’s year.
After a lull of over four years, during which he only featured in some cameo roles, the Bollywood badshah came roaring back in 2023 with two big releases – ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’. And both turned out to be mega hits and set the cash registers ringing.
IMDb released its list of the 10 most popular Indian films released in theatres between January 1 and November 6 this year.
While ‘Jawan’, released on September 7, occupies No. 1 spot, the January-released ‘Pathaan’ is at No. 2.
The Shah Rukh superhit duo is followed by ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, ‘Leo’ and ‘OMG2’.
The list, which includes films across languages, is based on page views of over 200 million visitors to the IMDb website worldwide.
THE TOP FILMS OF 2023
1. Jawan – Directed by Atle1. e and produced by Gauri Khan, the film starred Shah Rukh, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani. The film earned Rs 1,150 crore worldwide.
2. Pathaan – Directed by Siddharth Anand, produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films, the film starred Shah Rukh, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Salman Khan. The film earned around Rs 1,050 crore worldwide.
3. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani – The Karan Johar directorial features Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi. It earned Rs 355 crore globally.
4. Leo — Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Tamil action thriller stars Vijay, Trisha Krishnan and Sanjay Dutt. Released on October 19, it has already grossed Rs 620 crore.
5. OMG 2 — The sequel to OMG! stars Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam in lead roles. The satirical comedy was directed by Amit Rai.
