Mumbai: Abbas-Mustan’s 1993 film ‘Baazigar’ had played a major role in shaping Shah Rukh Khan’s career.
The film was a major commercial success which minted ₹32 crore worldwide and ₹15 crore at the domestic box-office.
In a recent interview with ETimes, producer Ratan Jain shared that a sequel to the Shah Rukh starrer ‘Baazigar’ will “definitely be made.”
The producer also revealed that he frequently discusses the idea of Baazigar 2 with Shah Rukh and things will soon be finalised. “We keep talking to Shah Rukh about the sequel, but it’s still in the idea phase,” he said.
The producer, however, clarified that though he is keen to cast Shah Rukh in the sequel, things have not been finalised yet.
In ‘Baazigar’, Shah Rukh had played a sympathetic anti-hero Vicky Malhotra, seeking vengeance for betrayal to his family, leading to the death of his father and baby sister. The film also starred Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Johnny Lever, and Dalip Tahil in important roles in the film, whose plot revolved around themes of love, betrayal, and revenge.
The character of a man with grey shades in ‘Baazigar’ along with that of an obsessive lover in ‘Darr’ had catapulted Shah Rukh to stardom in the ’90s.
After three back-to-back box-office hits namely Jawan, Pathan and Dunki, the actor will be next seen in ‘King’ in which he will be sharing screen space with daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma.
