Mumbai: As Punjab reels under devastating floods, several celebrities have stepped forward to extend their support to those affected by nature’s fury.
After ‘Sikandar’ Salman Khan provided 5 rescue boats through his Being Human foundation, Shah Rukh Khan has sent 1500 relief kits to flood-hit families in Punjab through his Meer foundation.
The relief kits, including medicines, hygiene supplies, food items, mosquito nets, tarpaulin sheets, folding beds and cotton mattresses and other essentials, will be distributed across Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka and Ferozepur districts with the help of local NGOs, the foundation said in a statement.
The initiative aims to provide immediate health, safety and shelter needs of the affected families while helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, the statement added.
Last week, Shah Rukh posted on social media, “My heart goes out to those in Punjab impacted by these devastating floods. Sending prayers and strength… The spirit of Punjab shall never break… may God bless them all.”
Salman also talked about the Punjab floods during the Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Ka Vaar episode. “We are doing as much as we can. We have contributed to the relief fund. Even famous singers from Punjab are helping in every way they can, keeping their rivalries aside.”
