Mumbai: The teaser of Shahid Kapoor-starrer ‘O Romeo’ had sparked speculation over the film being inspired by the lives of underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim, Hussain Ustara and Sapana didi.
Amid the buzz, Hussain’s daughter Sanober has sent a legal notice to the filmmakers, claiming a negative and wrong portrayal of her father in the film, and demanded compensation of Rs 2 crore and cancellation of the film’s release.
The letter has been addressed to producer Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and director Vishal Bhardwaj last week. It claims that O Romeo probably shows Hussain Ustara in a bad light, thereby impacting the family’s reputation. Hence, she has asked for Rs. 2 crores for the same. Along with the monetary demand, Sanober has also reportedly requested the makers to halt or cancel the film’s release until her concerns are addressed to her satisfaction, Bollywood Hungama reported.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film marks the director’s reunion with Shahid after eight years.
Shahid and Vishal previously worked together on films like Kaminey (2009), Haider (2014), and Rangoon (2017).
The teaser of ‘O Romeo’ featuring Shahid in an all-new avatar was dropped early on Saturday.
In the one-minute, 35-second clip, Shahid is seen in a rugged avatar, sporting a full-body tattoo, engaged in hand-to-hand combat and firing in high-intensity sequences.
‘O Romeo’ also stars Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey, and Tamannaah Bhatia and is slated to hit theatres on February 13.
