Mumbai: L’Oréal Paris has reacted after several social media users accused the beauty brand of overlooking actress Aishwarya Rai in its Cannes-related promotional content this year.
The debate began online after fans noticed Aishwarya’s apparent absence from the brand’s promotions surrounding the Cannes Film Festival.
Over the years, L’Oréal Paris has remained one of the festival’s key sponsors, bringing global celebrities to the red carpet. Among its most recognised ambassadors at Cannes has been Aishwarya, who has represented the brand at the event for over two decades.
As criticism escalated, one particular comment appeared to catch the brand’s attention.
Tagging L’Oréal Paris, a fan wrote, “Where is @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb? We only see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during Cannes. We want to see her more. Her aura is unmatched. Please promote and celebrate her more.”
Responding to the criticism, the official L’Oréal Paris handle wrote, “Year after year, Cannes after Cannes, she never misses.”
However, the reply only drew more criticism from fans online.
One user questioned, “Where is her poster then?”.
Another declared, “You are just back of new faces but forgetting the way Aishwarya brought you fame in Asia 🔥 @lorealparis you need to answer or be ready to get your worth down.”

Aishwarya made her Cannes debut in 2002 alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the premiere of ‘Devdas’. A year later, she attended the festival as a L’Oréal ambassador for the first time and has since become one of the most familiar Indian faces on the Cannes red carpet.
