New Delhi: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who resigned and left the country in an Army aircraft, landed at the Hindon Air Force Station in UP’s Ghaziabad, close to India’s national Capital.
Hasina was initially expected to arrive at Palam Airbase, but her C-130 aircraft — with call sign AJAX1431 – landed at Hindon airbase at 5.36 pm, reported India Today.
Among Hasina’s entourage are her sister Rehana and some other family members, ANI reported citing sources.
Air Commodre Sanjay Chopra received Hasina at Hindon airbase.
Though there is no confirmation from the Indian government yet, Hasina may fly out to London from Delhi.
Another destination being speculated is Finland.
Hasina fled from Bangladesh, ending her 15-year reign as Prime Minister, a day after fresh anti-government violence broke out in the country, leaving more than 300 dead.
Thousands of protesters earlier in the day stormed Hasina’s official residence, Ganabhaban, in Dhaka.
Bangladesh’s Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman said an interim government would take charge by the end of the day, promising that neither police nor Army would open fire at the public.
He appealed all, including the protesters, to be calm and maintain peace.
