Mumbai: Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur took to his Twitter handle on Monday to announce that he is back on the sets, and behind the lens, with his feature film ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’
The film is a romantic-comedy starring Lily James and Emma Thompson in lead roles.
“First rehearsals with the amazing actor Emma Thompson today. So looking forward to working with her in my next movie,” tweeted Shekhar.
According to a report in Deadline, the film is a ‘cross-cultural romantic comedy’ and has been written and co-produced by Jemina Khan.
‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ is the first feature film which Shekhar will be helming after 13 years. Shekhar’s last film was ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ in 2007.
In the past couple of months, Shekhar had opened up about his ambitious project ‘Paani’ with Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead.
Post Sushant’s demise, the filmmaker revealed that ‘Paani’ was shelved due to creative differences with the producer.
Talking about his project ‘Paani’ and Sushant’s reaction on being considered for the film, Shekhar, during a live Instagram session said, “He was jumping with joy, so excited that he was going to work with me and do Paani. The great thing about Sushant that I noticed was that acting did not stop with rehearsing the lines or reading the script or doing the movements. His interest went way beyond… Every time I had a meeting with the production designer or the DOP or VFX team, he was there.”
