Bhubaneswar: Come February 9, and the music lovers will get a classical treat of scintillating performance by the eight-member ‘Shivagni’ band. Founded by Violinist Agnimitra Behera and flutist Srinivas Satpathy, the band will be performing for at the inaugural day of the Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav. This will be their second performance at the event.
Eight musicians accompanying flute, guitar, keyboard, vocal, violin, table, drum and Veena will be performing four pieces of classical fusion for 40 minutes.
“We will start with Irish music blended with 15 Hindusatani raagas and then an Arabian piece. The best part of our ensemble is ‘The Tempest,’ in which each musician will give a solo performance on fast beats. The last piece will be Kirvani based on the popular classical bhajan ‘baajere muraliya baaje,’” said Agnimitra, one of the founders of the band.
‘Shivagni’ aims to perform at various national platforms in coming days. “Though all the musicians perform individually, we also collaborate for major events. I am thankful to Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra who believed in our effort and gave us a platform,” said the passionate violinist.
The band had performed for the first time at the OMC Guru Kulucharcan Mohapatra Award Festival organsied by ‘Srjan’ last year.
