Bhubaneswar: The liquor shop owners in Bhubaneswar have expressed their unwillingness for home delivery of liquor.
According to reports, more than 15 liquor shop owners in the city had a marathon meeting in this regard on Saturday.
Briefing the media after the meeting, they said that the state government had directed them to start home delivery of liquor, ignoring the possibility of delivery boys being attacked.
“If such incident takes place, which cannot be ruled out, then who will compensate for the loss?” they questioned.
They also expressed apprehensions over the monthly Minimum Guarantee Quota (MGQ) for the sale of liquor fixed by the government.
Liquor shops lift their quota from the Odisha State Beverages Corporation Limited (OSBCL) as per the MGQ.
“If we fail to meet the monthly quota, we will have to pay the penalty to the state exchequer. We will have a meeting in this regard with the Commissionerate Police today and take the decision accordingly,” they said.
