Puri: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has put the repair of the temples inside the Jagannath temple in the pilgrim town on hold due to shortage of khondalite stones.
Informing the media on Tuesday, ASI Odisha head Arun Mallick said during the inspection of small temples on the Jagannath temple premises, it was found that some worn-out stones need immediate replacement.
“We need khondalite stones to replace the damaged stones from the walls of these temples. But, as there is a shortage of khondalite stones, the repair work has been put on hold. We have asked the temple administration to provide the required number of stones. As soon as we get these stones, the repair work will resume,” Mallick said.
