Shraddha Murder Case: Amit Shah Assures Strict Punishment In Minimum Time

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that Delhi Police and prosecution will ensure ‘strict punishment’ to the Shraddha Walkar murder accused in minimum possible time, reported PTI.

“I have my eyes on the entire case. I just want to tell the people of the country that whosoever has done this, through law and through courts, Delhi Police and prosecution will ensure strict punishment in the minimum time,” Shah said at the Times Now Summit.

Aftab Poonawala, who allegedly killed live-in partner Shraddha and chopped her body into 35 pieces, apparently threatened to cut her up in pieces in 2020. Shraddha had filed a complaint in November 2020, stating that Aftab tried to kill her, but no action was taken then, said Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar.

Assuring that there is no lack of coordination now between Delhi and Mumbai police, Shah said: “The letter that has come to the fore, Delhi Police has no role in it. Shraddha had given a letter at a police station in Maharashtra that her body will be cut into pieces and about receiving death threats… No action was taken on it…There will be probe on it there. At that time, we did not have our government… Whosever is responsible, strict action will be taken,” the Home minister said.
