Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tendered his resignation on Tuesday after the Congress was voted out of power in the Assembly elections.
Siddaramaiah met Governor Vajubhai Vala and put in his papers.
Meanwhile, the Congress will be extending support to the JD(S) to form the Government as the results are likely headed towards a hung Assembly.
Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad informed, “We had a telephonic conversation with Deve Gowda ji and Kumaraswamy. They have accepted our offer of support. The JD (S) will head the government. Hopefully, we will be together.”
Meanwhile, BJP Chief Ministerial candidate B S Yeddyuruppa met the Governor and staked claim to form the Government.
Currently, the JD(S) is meeting the Governor to stake claim.
So far, out of 190 seats in which the result has been confirmed, BJP has won 88, Congress has got 66 while JD(S) has bagged 34. One seat has gone to an independent candidate.
