Puri: The work for silver plating three gates of the Jagannath temple in Puri began on Wednesday.
According to sources, a five-member team led by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) executive engineer Ashish Kumar Subuddhi examined the Beharana Dwara (gate) of the main temple, facing the Mukti Mandap, Jaya-Vijaya Dwara of Jagmohan and Kalahata Dwara, facing the sanctum sanctorum, and took the measurement for the draping.
The team later told the media that the inner parts of the three gates draped with brass have been damaged. “Repair work of the three gates will be taken up after removing the brass plates. Thereafter, these will be draped with silver,” it added.
Meanwhile, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has received 1930 kgs of silver as a donation from a devotee.
