Bhubaneswar: Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will remain closed for tourists and visitors from June 16 in view of the ensuing monsoon.
A forest department notification said the entry point of the national park at Lulung in Pithabata forest range and Kaliani in Jashipur forest range will remain closed.
Every year, the park remains closed from mid-June to October 31 as the forest roads get damaged in the rain. The park is opened for tourists and visitors after repair of roads in October.
Located in northern Odisha, the Similipal national park is spread over 2,750 sq km. The park is famous for its pristine beauty coupled with varied flora and fauna along with waterfalls and vast species of wild animals.
The park is the largest tiger reserve in the country.
