Mumbai: Noted Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s 28-year old son Dhruv, who is a restaurateur by profession, has tested positive for COVID-19.
As per a report in Indian Express, Dhruv was planning to fly abroad. Since it is mandatory for travellers to get themselves tested for COVID-19 before travelling, the young restaurateur voluntarily got himself tested only to find out that he was infected by the virus.
Dhruv, who is currently quarantining at home, is suffering from mild cough and cold.
“Dhruv was planning to travel abroad, and since there is a rule to get tested for coronavirus before travelling, he went for a voluntary test. He is asymptomatic. He has just a little cold and cough. He has quarantined himself at home and is taking all the precautions. There is nothing to worry,” Abhijeet was quoted as saying.
Abhijeet also got a coronavirus test done and his report is negative.
“I am shooting in Kolkata. The rule is that only if you have tested negative for coronavirus, you can get on sets. Since I tested negative, I continued to shoot,” said the singer.
Talking about the ongoing nepotism debate in Bollywood, Abhijeet told Hindustan Times, “It wasn’t like this before in the ’90s. Back then, it was even unthinkable. It did happen that one song went from one singer to another, but it was authentically, not like this. Things were not so dirty. A film director and music composer used to decide which singer they want, not some company or actor.”
Abhijeet rose to fame in the 90s after crooning for several Shah Rukh Khan starrers like ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, ‘Anjaam’, ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Asoka’, among others.
