Six Dead, Three Injured In Lightning Strikes

Bargarh/Sonepur/Puri/Balangir/Nayagarh: Six persons were killed while three sustained critical injuries after being struck by lightning in Bargarh, Sonepur, Puri and Nayagarh districts on Sunday.

Two women were killed in lightning strike at Nileipali village under Attabira block in Bargarh. The duo, identified as Mini Mirdha and Subalaya Mirdha, were working in an agricultural field when the incident took place.

Three other women, working in the field, were injured and rushed to VIMSAR in Sambalpur.

In another incident, a person identified as Subala Mahakud was killed after being struck by lightning at Luthurpanga in Sonepur district.

Similarly, a woman identified as Binodini Behera, a resident of Benupada village under Pipili block of Puri district, died in lightning strike while working in a paddy field near the village.

Similarly, lightning strikes also claimed lives of a man identified as Satya Bhoi at Jharial village under Bangomunda block in Balangir district and another person in Nayagarh district.
