Bulandshahr: A six-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped and thrown off the terrace where she lived with her parents in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. The two accused were arrested after a brief encounter with the police.
According to the the police, the incident is from a village within the Sikandrabad industrial area. The accused lives in the same building as the victim. She was playing on the terrace when they allegedly assaulted her sexually before throwing her off.
The girl was found in a critical condition on a nearby plot of land on Friday evening and rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
The victim’s father lodged a formal complaint against Raju and Veeru, who used to live at the same premises.
The police formed three specialised teams to track down the suspects. The encounter took place at Kanwara after police received a tip-off regarding their whereabouts.
“When the police team attempted to intercept them in the industrial area, the accused opened fire,” Dr Tejveer Singh, SP, Bulandshahr, said.
“In retaliatory firing by the police, both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. They were immediately taken into custody and shifted to a hospital for treatment,” he added.
The police recovered two pistols along with several live and spent cartridges from the possession of the accused during the operation, as reported by NDTV.
The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to confirm the allegations of sexual assault.
“The father suspects the two youths raped the child before throwing her from the roof,” Dr. Singh added.
“The accused have reportedly confessed to their involvement during preliminary questioning. We are awaiting the medical reports to add relevant Sections to the FIR, and further legal action is underway,” the SP said.
