Skeletal Remains With Missing Girl’s I-Card Found From Forest In Odisha’s Cuttack
Cuttack: The skeletal remains, suspected to be those of a girl who went missing one and a half years back, were found in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday.
According to sources, some local people of Dampada under Banki police station in the district had taken a patch of land in the forest behind a college in the area for cashew plantation. In the morning, they had gone to the place to check the growth of saplings.
While going around in the forest, they found a human skull and some parts of a skeleton protruding out of the soil. On further checking, they also came across an identity card, a haversack, a soft drink bottle and other personal articles near the skeleton.
On being informed, a team from Banki police station went to the spot and seized the skeleton and other things. They sent the seized materials for laboratory test.
The sources said the name of Jhuna Jena was written on the identity card found from near the skeleton. A girl with the same name, who was working in Bharat Masala company, had gone missing on December 1, 2022. Though her family had filed a police complaint, Jhuna has remained untraced so far.
Considering the materials found from the forest, the locals suspected that the skeletal remains could be that of Jhuna. However, the police said the identity could be ascertained after necessary test.
