Bhubaneswar: The Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University here has ranked in the top 601-800 in Engineering and Technology in the ‘2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ by subject.
SOA also figured in the 600 plus category in Computer Science. The subject rankings were released on Thursday.
The university had figured in the 1001 plus category in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2020 published last month, having participated in the ranking for the first time, said a statement issued by SOA.
The Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology, established in 1996, is a well-known institution in the eastern region for its academic environment and research.
In the ranking for engineering and technology, two other institutions from Odisha such as IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela also figured in the 601 to 800 category.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for engineering and technology subjects used the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators as the overall world university rankings, but the methodology was recalibrated to suit individual fields, the statement said.
The weightings for the subjects of engineering and technology and computer science included teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research) and industry income (innovation).
SOA was placed 24th in the university category in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry of HRD in its 2019 ranking while it placed ITER 32nd in the country among institutions of engineering and technology.
