New Delhi: Two days after the scandalous screenshots went viral on social media, the admin of now-closed Instagram group ‘Bois Locker Room’ was arrested by Delhi Police Cyber Crime Cell on Wednesday.
The group members, mostly teenagers, were caught making derogatory remarks about under-age girls and threatening rape.
The group had nearly 20 boys from south Delhi, who shared and morphed photographs of minor girls and engaged in rating their bodies.
The Delhi Police has registered an FIR under sections 66 and 67A of IT Act and IPC. Mobile phones of the identified members have been seized.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has issued notices to Instagram and Delhi Police asking for the arrest of the students.
“DCW has issued notice to Instagram and Delhi Police in the matter of a group named “bois locker room” being used by some miscreants to share objectionable pictures of minor girls and planning illegal acts such as gangrape of minor girls. All the people involved in this act should be immediately arrested and a strong message needs to be given out,” Maliwal wrote on social media.
The matter came to light after a girl from Delhi leaked screenshots of the group chats on Instagram and Twitter. The lurid messages have drawn flak from users across the country and abroad. The leaked screenshots show they allegedly threatened to rape the women who leaked the screenshots and also warned that they would circulate their nude photographs.
