Lahore: Amid growing concerns about his well-being in prison, Imran Khan’s sons have expressed apprehension about ‘something irreversible’ being concealed by the Pakistani authorities.
Forget meeting him, no information about Imran, who is in a ‘death cell’ in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, has been shared in the last 47 days, according to his sons Kasim and Sulaiman Khan.
Fearing the worst, Kasim and Sulaiman have alleged that authorities are concealing “something irreversible” about their father’s condition, after several weeks with no evidence of him being still alive, reported Reuters.
“Today, we have no verifiable information at all about his condition. Our greatest fear is that something irreversible is being hidden from us,” said Kasim.
He claimed that the Asim Munir-led establishment has time and again blocked prison visits despite a judicial order mandating weekly meetings.
Kasim and Sulaiman’s mother, and Imran’s ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith, claimed on X, “They’re not even allowed to speak to him on the phone. No one is.”
Last week, Kasim said his father had been under arrest for 845 and he had been kept in a ‘death cell’ with ‘zero transparency’.
“My father has been under arrest for 845 days. For the past six weeks, he has been kept in solitary confinement in a death cell with zero transparency,” Kasim alleged in a social media post on November 27.
“His sisters have been denied every visit, even with clear court orders allowing access. There have been no phone calls, no meetings and no proof of life. Me and my brother have had no contact with our father,” Kasim wrote, adding that the “absolute blackout” was a “deliberate attempt” at preventing his family from knowing whether he was safe.
