Sonali Sahoo Appointed Odisha Congress Spokesperson

Bhubaneswar: Three days after she joined the party, prominent woman leader Sonali Sahoo was on Sunday appointed spokesperson of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC).

A party statement said that OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak has approved the appointment of Sonali as spokesperson of Odisha Congress with immediate effect.

Notably, Sonali joined Congress on Thursday shortly after resigning from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.

Sonali said she decided to quit BJP and join Congress after being inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and the party’s progressive ideas and policies.

She has earlier tendered her resignation from the primary membership of Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) claiming that the saffron party has failed to work sincerely for the empowerment of women.

“During the last five years, I came to realise that BJP is not pro-women. The party lacks respect towards women as well. Being a woman, I have decided to move ahead and become the voice of the women of the state. I will always serve the people of Odisha,” she alleged.

It may be recalled here Sonali had joined the saffron party in 2019 after quitting the Congress.
