New Delhi: Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late Tuesday evening after she reportedly felt unwell due to a sudden change in weather.
According to multiple reports, the 78-year-old veteran leader complained of breathlessness and a chest/lung-related issue, prompting her hospitalisation for observation. A team of doctors is attending to her, and her condition is described as stable with “nothing serious”.
The reports further stated that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached the hospital shortly after her admission and are present with her.
As of early Wednesday morning, no official statement has been issued by the Congress party or the Gandhi family on her health. Social media platforms are abuzz with reactions with many prayers for her speedy recovery.
Sonia was hospitalized in January too after suffering from respiratory problems. A thorough medical evaluation revealed that her bronchial asthma had worsened mildly, triggered by the combined impact of Delhi’s cold weather and high pollution levels.
The Congress leader has served five terms as a Lok Sabha MP before being elected to Rajya Sabha in 2024.
