Mumbai: After helping stranded migrants during the lockdown period, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has now sent workers back to their hometown for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the actor arranged buses for sending migrant workers to their native villages in Maharashtra and Konkan. So far, around 300 migrants have left for their hometown.
“Recently, some migrant workers who live in Lalbaug and behind Siddhivinayak temple in Prabhadevi reached out to me with a plea. I organised buses for them with all the necessary permissions. The first batch of around 300 left five days ago and another batch will leave soon,” Sonu told Mumbai Mirror.
Meanwhile, Sonu is also helping medical students stranded in different countries reach home. “We are also evacuating medical students stuck in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and the Philippines,” he said.
