Mumbai: In the never-ending social media drama around the arrest of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik in connection with drug peddling, netizens have now started apologising to Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet.
It may be recalled that Rhea had reportedly named the two actresses among the top listers in Bollywood who consume drugs.
News of the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) zeroing in on the two actresses and others in B-town started doing the rounds thereafter.
However, on Monday, the NCB clarified that they had not zeroed on any names yet, including the two named by Rhea.
After this netizens started apologising to both the actors for falsely accusing them of drug abuse and misrepresenting them in the whole drug peddling case.
Actor Samantha Akkineni too joined the conversation and apologised to the actors. Participating in the #sorryRakul #SorrySara online trend, the actress on her Instagram story wrote, “Times Now had previously reported that Rhea Chakraborty, during interrogation, had named Sara, Rakul and fashion designer Simone Khambhatta, among others, as drug consumers. The report claimed that the NCB had prepared a list of 25 Bollywood names who would be summoned for further questioning, #SorryRakul, #SorrySara.”
The actress has posted several stories of different media reports stating that both Sara and Rakul were not summoned by the NCB officials.
NCB Deputy Director KPS Malhotra has reportedly told Free Press Journal that no Bollywood names have been listed to be summoned. “We have not prepared any Bollywood list. The list earlier prepared was of peddlers and traffickers. It’s getting confused with Bollywood. The names have not been zeroed upon.”
Rhea Chakraborthy, Showik Chakraborthy, Samuel Miranda, Dipesh Swant, Abdul Basit, and Zaid Vilatra have been arrested on drug-related charges in the ongoing investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
