BJD Nominates Soumya Patnaik For Khandapada, Ananta Jena For Bhubaneswar-Central
Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced names of seven assembly and two Lok Sabha seats.
The party has fielded Mahesh Sahoo and Chandrani Murmu from Dhenkanal and Keonjhar Lok Sabha seats, respectively.
The candidates announced for the seven Assembly seats are as follows:
1. Ananta Narayan Jena-Bhubaneswar-Central
2. Susanta Kumar Rout-Bhubaneswar-North
3. Soumya Ranjan Patnaik-Khandapada
4. Mukesh Pal-Pallahara
5. Pranab Prakash Das-Jajpur
6. Ashok Bal-Korei
7. Ramesh Sai-Athamallik
In the eighth list of candidates, BJD has named new candidates for Dhenkanal and Keonjhar Lok Sabha seats. While sitting BJD MLA of Pallahara Mahesh Sahu has replaced Tathagat Satpathy for Dhekanal, Chandrani Murmu has replaced Shakuntala Laguri for Keonjhar.
A mechanical engineer and the granddaughter of former Keonjhar MP Harihar Soren, Chandrani is the youngest Lok Sabha candidate fielded by the BJD.
Out of the seven Assembly seats, the party has replaced five sitting MLAs. They are Bijay Mohanty (replaced by Ananta Narayan Jena), Priyadarshi Mishra (replaced by Susanta Kumar Rout), Sanjeev Sahu (replaced by Ramesh Sai), Akash Dasnayak (replaced by Ashok Bal) and Anubhav Patnaik (replaced by Soumya Ranjan Patnaik).
While Pranab Prakash Das, son of Ashok Das, has been retained for the Jajpur Assembly seat, Mukesh Pal is the new candidate for Pallahara.
While the BJD has announced its candidates for the all 21 Lok Sabha seats, it is yet to announce candidates for three remaining Assembly seats. They are, Kendrapara, Champua and Baripada.
Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases, beginning April 11.
