Puri: Tourism has been one of the worst hit sectors across the globe because of the coronavirus. Doing his bit to revive the struggling industry, international sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo sculpted various tourist spots on the occasion of World Tourism Day, which is celebrated on September 27.
It took him five hours to complete the sand art.
Sahoo, who hails from Odisha’s Puri, captured different tourist places through his sand art, under the theme ‘Travel & Revel’. He also promoted social distancing, wearing masks and regular use of hand sanitizers during travelling.
The country was under a strict lockdown since March 25. And even though the government has been announcing unlocking of different sectors in phases, not many in India are ready to travel as positive coronavirus cases have been rising in the country.
The travel and tourism industry accounts for 8.1 per cent of total employment in the country.
