Puri/Bhubaneswar: Shri Jagannath temple in Puri will hold elaborate rituals to celebrate Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, on Friday night.
As per tradition, after the Sandhya Dhupa, Jaya Bijaya Dwara will be closed. The general darshan for devotees will be restricted for five hours from 6 pm to 11 pm.
Two Mahajan Sevakas, in the attire of Devaki and Basudev, will perform the birth rituals of Lord Krishna.
Besides, Janmashtami will also be celebrated at different mutts in Puri. The devotees will observe the festival by singing bhajan and kirtan.
Likewise, celebrations of Janmashtami and Nanda Utsav are also underway with pomp and gaiety at many Goudiya Mutts in Puri.
In Bhubaneswar, thousands of devotees are flocking to the Iskcon temple for darshan of Lord Krishna and to partake in the celebrations on the pious occasion.
The temple door was opened at 4 am on Friday. After the Mangala Alati and Abakasa rituals, general darshan started.
After the Sandhya Dhupa, Janmashtami rituals will begin at the temple in the evening.
