Pune: Seems like over-speeding vehicles claiming innocent lives have become a norm in big cities these days.
After the infamous Porsche hit and run case, where a minor was behind the wheel and two lives were lost, another hit and run case has been reported in the Mundhwa area of city on Friday.
A speeding Audi rammed into a biker from behind at around 1:35 am and fled from the accident spot leaving the injured to die.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim, identified as Rauf Shaikh, worked as a food delivery agent.
Before hitting the bike of the delivery agent, the Audi had hit a two-wheeler also, leaving three people injured.
“At around 1.35 am, the accused hit a two-wheeler first, injuring three people. He further hit a bike on which the deceased Rauf Shaikh was travelling. The car hit him in the back, causing serious injuries to him. He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead,” a senior police officer told ANI.
“After the incident, 34-year-old Ayush Tayal fled from the crime scene. Upon investigation of the CCTV footage, his car was identified and he was subsequently arrested from his residence in the Hadapsar area,” the officer added.
