SpiceJet Staffer Held For Slapping CISF Officer At Jaipur Airport, Airline Defends Employee
Jaipiur: SpiceJet has stood by it employee arrested for slapping an on-duty Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer at Jaipur Airport after an argument broke out over security screening on Thursday.
According to reports, the airline accused the CISF officer of sexual harassment.
The footage of the incident went viral on social media. The video showed that Assistant Sub Inspector Giriraj Prasad stopped Anuradha Rani, a food supervisor with the airline, and other employees, who were entering the airport through the vehicle gate around 4 am. The officer alleged that they didn’t not have valid permission to use the gate.
According to reports, the officer asked her to undergo screening at the nearby entrance for airline crew.
However, a SpiceJet spokesperson accused the CISF personnel of making ‘unwelcome advance’ and using inappropriate language against the female staffer.
“Today, an unfortunate incident occurred at Jaipur Airport involving a SpiceJet female security staff member and a male CISF personnel. While escorting a catering vehicle at the steel gate, our female security staff member, who had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India’s civil aviation security regulator, was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home,” the spokesperson told Punepulse.
The airline will take legal action against the personnel and has reportedly approached local police.
