Ganjam: A jilted lover allegedly barged into the house of a girl at Kendubadi under Polsara police limits in Ganjam district and attempted to kill her on Wednesday.
According to reports, the accused tried to set the girl ablaze by pouring petrol on her while she was cooking. The victim’s mother too sustained burn injuries while trying to save her.

Hearing their screams, some locals rushed to the spot and rescued the duo. They were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Efforts are on to nab the accused, who fled the spot soon after the incident, police sources said.
