Mayurbhanj: Upset over his marriage proposal being rejected, a youth allegedly slit the throat of a girl at Sanakuleibira village under Jamada police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
On being informed about the incident by locals, Jamada police reached the spot and arrested the accused, identified as Krushna Chandra Satpathy. He is a resident of Purusottampur in Ganjam district.
The girl was admitted to Rairangpur hospital in a critical condition.
According to police sources, the victim had a quarrel with the accused over the marriage proposal. Frustrated over the rejection, the accused slit the girl’s throat with a knife.
