Bhubaneswar: A 20-year-old married woman died after allegedly being stabbed by a spurned lover at her house in Jharana slum near Sishu Bhawan Square in Odisha capital.
The deceased has been identified as Deepika Dutta.
According to police sources, the incident took place around 7 pm on February 27 (Tuesday). She was rushed to Capital Hospital here and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where she succumbed during treatment on Wednesday.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told the media that Deepika’s husband, Kunjbihari Dutta, had confirmed that the young man attacked her when she did not reciprocate to his feelings.
The attacker has been identified and would be apprehended soon, he added.
Dutta owns a mobile phone repair shop near his house and he had hired the perpetrator, a carpenter, for some interior work, sources said.
