SRC Issues Advisory With Temp Dipping & Cold Wave All Set To Return To Odisha
Bhubaneswar: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting cold wave conditions in Odisha for 3 days from Friday, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner on Thursday issued an advisory for the districts, which are likely to be affected.
While Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sonepur and Balangir are likely to feel the winter chill from 8.30 am on January 28 to 8.30 am on January 29, one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Balangir, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Kalahandi are likely to experience similar cold wave conditions during the subsequent 24 hours.

The chill will continue to prevail at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Balangir, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Kalahandi till 8.30 am on January 31, it added.
The SRC said that there is an increased likelihood of cold-related illnesses among people, which may get aggravated due to prolonged exposure to cold. People of these districts have, therefore, been advised to stay indoors at night. Movement during the night, especially in two-wheelers or in open cars must be avoided, it said.
The collectors have been directed to open school buildings, community buildings and other available buildings for use as shelter during the night by homeless and needy people.
