Malkangiri: An SSBN Jawan shot himself to death with his service rifle in an apparent suicide attempt at Poteru under Kalimela block of Malkangiri district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Duryodhan Majhi from Gaiselet in the Bargarh district. Majhi was posted at Poteru Police Outpost.
Majhi was rushed to the district headquarters hospital on Saturday morning following the incident but the doctor there declared him ‘brought dead’.
The reason for the suspected suicide is yet to be ascertained. His body will be handed over to family members after autopsy.
